Rating System

BWP Rating System

We will be rating wings on the following criteria, from 1 to 5:

Size: Self-explanatory. Chances are around Buffalo most places (non-chain) serve good sized wings. You'll probably see mostly 4's and 5's here.

Crispiness: This is tricky. Most people I talk to like their wings fried with cripsy skin, but still suacy (it's own category). So a rating of 1 would be either too soggy or too crispy, and 5 would be prefectly crispy but not dried out. Yes, it's a fine line and a delicate balance.

Sauce: Also tricky, due to the diverse preferances of wing eaters. Some like them drowning in sauce. Some like them saucy but not greasy. Some like them a bit on the dry side. Sauces themselves also widely vary among places. So, in the interest of fairness, this category will be based upon the reviewer's tastes. Said reviewer will note their tastes (type/taste of sauce, sauciness, etc., score accordingly, and provide explaination where necessary.

Heat: This score is for the overall heat and the accuracy of the order. Was that medium order really medium? Or did you need a wax coating down your esophagus? Some people don't do heat; they order mild for a reason. Some people want their tongue to melt. Scores are for getting it right, not who's got the hottest.

Overall: Total score divided by 4. Remember, scores are given by individual reviewers, and tastes do vary. One thing is usually agreed upon. A pitcher of cold beer goes a long way in enjoying your wings.
